Steps

How it works

  • Choose one supported audio file up to 100 MB.
  • Move the volume control from silence through double the source level.
  • Preview the source at the selected browser playback level.
  • Apply the change, preview the processed output, and download it.

Highlights

Key features

  • Volume multiplier ranges from 0 to 2 in 5% steps.
  • Supports common MP3, WAV, OGG, and M4A audio workflows.
  • Re-encodes output using the matching supported format where practical.
  • Shows source duration, processing progress, output preview, size, and format.
  • Works through the browser-loaded FFmpeg audio filter.

Use cases

Common uses

  • Make a quiet recording easier to hear.
  • Reduce overly loud music before sharing it.
  • Create a muted copy by setting volume to zero.
  • Adjust an MP3 or other supported audio file for a presentation.

Notes

Limitations to know

  • This is a volume multiplier, not loudness normalization.
  • There is no peak detection, limiter, clipping prevention, or decibel control.
  • Boosting can amplify noise and cause clipping or distortion.
  • Audio is re-encoded, so quality, metadata, sample rate, or channel details may change.
  • Only one audio file is processed at a time; batch volume adjustment is not available.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

5 answers
How much can I increase the volume?

The control goes up to 200% of the source level. That does not guarantee clean sound at the maximum setting.

Can boosting cause distortion?

Yes. The tool does not include clipping protection or limiting, so loud peaks can distort when boosted.

Does this normalize audio?

No. It applies one multiplier to the full track and does not analyze target loudness.

Can I preview the volume change?

The source player follows the selected level up to the browser's 100% playback cap. Apply the change to preview boosts above 100% in the generated output.

Will the output format stay the same?

Common supported formats are generally re-encoded to the matching format. Some inputs, such as FLAC in the shared utility, may be exported differently for browser playback.
